Alumni profiles

Far-reaching impact

STPP alumni work in governments around the world, thinktanks and civil society organizations, and industry. Some lead research labs and pursue academic careers. What they share is a unique combination of expertise: they have a deep understanding of science and technology policymaking and methods to analyze and influence it, as well as specialized training in a particular area. And they are all passionate about developing and governing science and technology to serve the public interest.

Our alumni serve as expert witnesses for Congressional hearings and sit on government advisory committees. They work for the White House, the European Commission, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, and the Vera Institute of Justice. They understand the policy process related to the conduct and management of research and development, the distinguishing economic characteristics and consequences of science and technology, the political issues that come into play when science moves out of the laboratory and into the policy domain, and the broad policy frameworks within which science and technology activities occur.
